JCC’s Agri-Business Program Takes Root with Alissa Donnell
When thinking about agri-business, you might think of someone having a family farm background. Not so with Jefferson’s agri-business instructor Alissa Donnell. She grew up in Liverpool, New York without any knowledge of agriculture education when she began college at the University of Delaware. She has always had a love of animals, especially horses, and discovered agriculture education while at Delaware and discovered this was her calling. She graduated with her bachelor in science degree in 2001 and accepted a management position with Hallston Manor, an equine facility in Clay, New York. ......
The Style and Grammar of Dr. Christine Grimes-Topping
With just a twist of fate, Jefferson’s assistant professor of English, Dr. Christine Grimes-Topping could have easily been astronaut Christine Grimes-Topping. Growing up in Texas and living next to NASA, Christine had dreams of space travel as a child, and it wasn’t until much later in her life that she recognized her true passion lay with her feet firmly planted in a classroom.
Christine earned her bachelor in arts degree in business and English from Regis University in 2000 and thereafter was hired as a manager at Target. Realizing business was not her passion, she decided to pursue her master’s degree and attended......

Assistant Professor Cindy Shelmidine’s career in the criminal justice field wasn’t always a smooth endeavor; one could say it was a bit rocky….literally. Anthropology was Cindy’s first passion, and was an anthropology major while earning her bachelor in arts degree from SUNY Oswego. Her love for teaching wasn’t realized until much later.
Cindy first began working for the Department of Social Services when she decided to pursue a career in the criminal justice field. While working full time, she began taking night classes at Jefferson in the criminal justice program and graduated with two Associates......
Getting Down to Business with Dawn Robinson
Dawn Robinson is not only one of our business instructors here at Jefferson, she is also an alum! Dawn graduated from Jefferson with an associate in applied science degree in retail business management in 1997 and during her time here as a student, she formed many relationships with both staff and faculty. Professor Cherie Ditch was one professor who helped guide and mentor Dawn throughout her time at Jefferson. “I like to refer to Cherie as my mom away from mom; anytime I needed guidance she was always there to pull me back to earth, and still is,” she said. After graduation......
