Exam Proctoring Guidelines and Procedures: JCC Students

For courses physically taught and attended on-campus, the library offers make-up exam proctoring for exams that individual students miss and need to make-up. Our facilities and staffing limitations do not allow us to extend this service to online students, nor to provide proxy services for entire class sections.

If you are taking a JCC online class and need information on proctored exams click here.

Make-up exam proctoring for JCC students is done in the Media Center.

  • Proctoring will be offered on Tuesday afternoons from 1 pm to 4 pm and Friday mornings from 8:30 to 11:30. If students are unable to make these times, other arrangements can be made by Media Center Clerk.
  • All proctoring will be done by the Media Center Clerk, or another library staff member.
  • A maximum of six students can be accommodated at one time.
  • Faculty members will refer students to the Media Center to arrange to make up a missed test. The faculty member will deliver the test to the Media Center Clerk.
  • The faculty member must state specific instructions such as open book, calculator use, and whether breaks (bathroom or otherwise) are allowed.
  • The faculty member must also indicate the length of time allowed to take the test, and the last possible date to take the test.
  • The student will be responsible for making the proctoring appointment with the Media Center Clerk at least 24 hours in advance.
  • Once an appointment is made, the Media Center Clerk will contact the faculty member to confirm arrangements.
  • The Media Center Clerk will have a place available for students to set aside any bags, packs, purses and cell phones.
  • The Media Center Clerk will notify the faculty member when a test is completed and ready to pick up.
  • The faculty member will be responsible for picking up the completed test from the Media Center Clerk.
