Donald Miller Memorial Scholarship

In February 2015, Jefferson Community College established the Donald Miller Memorial Scholarship with contributions from college faculty, staff, and retirees to honor the memory of their former colleague.

Don was an admirable man whose life was dedicated to serving others. He became part of the Jefferson family in 1997 as Dean of Enrollment Management and Student Life. Before coming to Jefferson, he served as Dean of Students at the University of Dallas in Irving, TX, Associate Dean of Students at Colgate University, Directory of Student Activities at SUNY Binghamton’s Harper College of Arts & Sciences, and as Director of a residence hall at West Virginia University.
Don received his undergraduate degree from Ohio University and earned a Masters of Arts degree in Educational Administration from Case-Western Reserve University. In addition, he completed forty-four hours towards a Doctorate in Education in Educational Administration at West Virginia University.

Don married his high school sweetheart, Pat, and raised two children, Christopher and Kathleen.

Friends at Jefferson recall Dean Miller’s amiable personality and his welcoming smile. He is remembered by his colleagues for his kindness and positive outlook. Don retired from Jefferson Community College in 2005 and returned to his Texas home. Each summer after his retirement, he would return to the North Country to visit friends and stay on the lake at Cape Vincent, something that he and his wife, Pat, enjoyed so much. Don is dearly missed by his family and friends.

The Jefferson Community College Foundation is thankful to the many individuals who helped establish this scholarship and honored to be able to continue Dean Miller’s commitment to students at Jefferson Community College.
