Hydraulics Makerspace (Ages 9-14)August 06, 2018 - August 10, 2018

Your child learns about simple machines and how a hydraulic system works. Then she or he gets to experiment with the makerspace build components to see how they connect together. Everyone has a build buddy! The real fun begins when engineering objectives are given and everyone gets to design their own machine. There is no end to what your child will come up with!

Jazz and Hip Hop Dance (Ages 7-12)July 30, 2018 - August 02, 2018

It’s hip! It’s happening! It’s now! Hip hop is the current dance style seen on most of today’s music videos. Class begins with some funky warm ups, followed by some jammin’ variations and combos to get the young body into the groove. This workshop is very much for dancers of all levels and talent.

ROBLOX®Makers-Coders-Entrepreneurs! (Ages 11-14)August 06, 2018 - August 10, 2018

Discover how to code in the Lua language while playing and designing worlds in ROBLOX®, an online universe where you can create anything you dream of. This new class combines game design concepts, coding, and fun! Young entrepreneurs will also learn how to navigate Roblox’s fast growing marketplace to publish their games. Student-created games will be available on a password protected Black Rocket website to share with friends and family. Students will work in pairs or teams for most of the program.

Disaster Proof Housing Natural disasters affect millions of people all over the world each year. That’s where engineers come in. They design emergency shelters such as tents with cement-like sturdiness, figure out how to rescue survivors and transport supplies, and rebuild destroyed homes and infrastructure. Learn to use technology and fluid mechanics to design sustainable shelters that can withstand flooding and high winds.

Embark on an EPIC adventure in virtual reality! In this cutting edge class, you will learn the foundations of VR design by creating your own virtual worlds, exploring simulated environments, and crafting memorable 3D experiences. At the end of the week, take home your first cardboard VR headset to show friends and family the new worlds you created. VR projects can be viewed on a website or a mobile device. Students do not need a mobile device to take the class, but to use the VR headset a camper will need access to an Android or Apple mobile device. Students will work in pairs or teams and VR projects will be available on a password protected Black Rocket website to share with friends and family. A VR headset is included in the tuition for this class.
