Spencer Patterson - God’s Touch

You must have been god’s favorite
For he spared you
The torment he left us to endure
The pain and neglect
Of a loveless mother and
A Father who was gone
Until I was half grown out of youth

God made the mistake
Of putting you in our lives
And took you back the only way
God knows how.
Stealing you of your breath
And planting you in the ground.

If I was to ever thank God
That would be why.
I envy you the gift
of God’s Grace.

Perhaps the one choice
God ever got right.
Pardoning you,
From this feeble foundation of a life.
