Three Blind Mice

Hannah Curinga

Behind the chair, under the bed.
See how they run,
Hitting the walls.
Clutching what is left of their tails.
The aftermath of a carving knife.
The three blind mice.

See how they run.
Listen closely for the patter of blind feet.
This house of disability
Is riddled and rhymed.
Infested with the parasites of failure.
Tick-tock goes the broken clock.

See how we run.
Clutching what is left of our dreams.
Running into walls,
Into the cats.
Straining with our deaf ears,
To hear a way of escape.
With our blind eyes,
We hide where we cannot see.
