You’re a leap of faith I’m not willing to take,
1000 questions with no definite answers,
You’re every subtle and distant cliché,
You cling to my lungs and my throat like a cancer,
I’m an ignorant dancer I dance upon shells,
Shells of the bodies I’ve shed throughout years,
When your heart flickers, there’s no way to tell.
& I’ll be swallowed up by the reality of my fears.
How many selves have I disowned without reason?
How many times have I wished on the stars?
How much discontent will consume each season?
When is the right time to forget broken hearts?
I know I am young, too young to be bitter,
I know I am wise, too much for my good,
What can I say? With you I’m a quitter,
this whole damn ordeal is just misunderstood.
And I swear on my life and all that is just,
That I will not end up like the naïve lives before me,
If a price I must pay, then the price is trust,
And I won’t give up until you abhor me.
