JCC Humanities Department to host Piano Recital on April 16

The Jefferson Community College (JCC) humanities department will host a piano recital for international student Phuc (Brian) Vo on Thursday, April 16 at 7:00 p.m. in Sturtz Theater. The public is invited to attend.

Vo, originally from Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, is a freshman at JCC who is majoring in humanities and social sciences with an emphasis on performing arts. Brian is a pianist in the JCC orchestra ensemble and piano accompanist for the college’s official choir, the Jefferson Singers. He is enrolled in JCC courses Music Theory 1 and Music Appreciation. Prior to coming to Jefferson, Vo was a foreign exchange student at Indian River High School. While attending Indian River High School, Vo was a member of the high school orchestra ensemble where he played the piano and violin. Vo began building his repertoire in his home country where he performed piano recitals annually at the Ho Chi Minh Conservatoire Piano Festival.

In the Fall, Brian plans to audition for music schools including Eastman School of Music, Julliard School of Music, the SUNY Fredonia School of Music, and the SUNY Potsdam Crane School of Music. His ultimate career goal is to become a concert pianist.

If the piano is your favorite sounding instrument, this is one recital you won’t want to miss! For more information, call the JCC Humanities Department at 315-786-2328.
