Jefferson Community College (JCC) Foundation will accept applications for the last distribution of the Italian Arts Scholarship beginning November 2, 2015 for students interested in studying art in Florence, Italy next summer. Made possible by the late Frederick H. (Aline) Taylor of Watertown, the Italian Arts Scholarship covers the cost of travel, tuition, lodging, books, art supplies and meals for students to study abroad for 4-weeks in July 2016. Students will be required to complete one course at the Scuola Lorenzo de’Medici, for which they will earn college credit.

To be eligible for the Italian Arts Scholarship, students must be enrolled at JCC full-time (minimum of 12 credits each semester) for the Fall 2015 and Spring 2016 semesters. Applicants must also complete one art course (3 credit hours) by the end of the spring 2016 semester and maintain a grade point average of 2.5 or above.

Applications will be available in the Financial Services Office (Room 6-024), Liberal Arts Division (Rooms 5-201 and 5-204), and the JCC Foundation. To apply for the Italian Arts Scholarship, students must complete the scholarship application, provide a copy of their college transcript(s) along with an essay of not more than two typed pages describing why they wish to participate in the program and what they hope to achieve through study in Florence, and two personal or professional references.
