JCC Names Riley E. Luckie & Deshawn Cann Co-Athletes of the Week

Freshman point guard, Riley E. Luckie of the Jefferson Community College (JCC) women’s basketball team, and freshman guard Deshawn Cann of the Jefferson men’s basketball team, were named JCC co-athletes of the week for the week ending December 13, 2015.  JCC's athlete of the week program is sponsored by Under Armour and Victory Promotions.

Riley, a 2015 graduate of Ogdensburg Free Academy, is majoring in Physical Education at Jefferson.  Luckie’s accomplishments on the court this past week include leading the charge for the Lady Cannoneer’s win over North Country Community College (NCCC). Riley had 25 points while shooting 10-11 from the free throw line. Handling the role of point guard duties against the NCCC defensive pressure was no easy task, but she managed to finish the contest with no turnovers. The win sent the Lady Cannoneers into the semester break with an 8-4 overall record, and a 1-0 record in the Mid-State Athletic Conference.

Deshawn, a 2012 graduate of T.A. Edison C.T.E. High School, Jamaica, NY is majoring in Sports Management at Jefferson. Cann’s accomplishments on the court this past week include continuing his steady play in the win over North Country Community College.  It was another double-double for Deshawn as he had 24 points and 11 rebounds, as well as 6 assists in the Region III win. His commitment to the team, game, and himself are showing each and every day as he continues to strive for excellence. His quickness and relentless ability to get to the basket have made him one of the many weapons for this edition of Cannoneer basketball.
