Jefferson Community College Hosts Dance Marathon to Benefit Children’s Miracle Network

Jefferson Community College (JCC) will host its first ever Dance Marathon on Saturday, October 15, 2016 in the SUNY Jefferson Gymnasium to benefit Children’s Miracle Network (CMN) at Samaritan Medical Center. JCC students will stay on their feet for 12 hours in symbolic support of pediatric patients and their families in Jefferson, Lewis and St. Lawrence counties.

“This is our first year to have Dance Marathon at JCC, and I could not be more excited to celebrate the hard work of over 300 students. I am extremely proud of Madi Draper, Dance Marathon Coordinator and Miracle Champion, and the student body for their unwavering support and efforts. They have truly risen up For the Kids,” Kristin Stockwell, CMN Development Manager, said.

JCC students have been raising funds for several months. With a goal of $3,000, no donation is too small. To get involved, go to, click register now and search for SUNY Jefferson to register or make a donation.

The event is open to the public with a minimum five-dollar donation at the door. Opening ceremonies will start Saturday at 12:00pm. All ages are encouraged to attend the event from 12:00 to 8:00 pm; ages 16 and older from 8:00 pm to midnight. All participants must have school ID or permit/license at sign in.

Dancing, playing interactive games and participating in various themed hours will keep Dancers motivated throughout the event. Miracle Families affected by CMN Hospitals will also be present to share their stories. “Their stories are incredible and inspiring and will touch the hearts of these students. They will see first-hand why an event like Dance Marathon is so important to our community. JCC students have the opportunity to save and improve the lives of many children.”

Closing ceremonies start Sunday at 12:00 am where the total amount raised from the event will be announced.

All of the money raised will be donated to Samaritan Medical Center, Watertown’s local Children’s Miracle Network Hospital. The money is used for research and training, purchasing state-of-the-art equipment and to provide financial assistance to families for medical travel expenses and medical services not covered by insurance.
