JCC Cultural Arts Series to present Kotchegna on Oct. 8











Experience traditional songs and dance of the Ivory Coast with Kotchegna Dance Company at Jefferson Community College (JCC) on Saturday, October 8 at 8:00 p.m. in Sturtz Theater. Admission is free and the public is invited to attend.  

Hailed as one of the most exciting African troupes in the United States, Kotchegna is under the artistic direction of master dancer and drum maker Vado Diamonde. Dancing since the age of 4 combined with more than 15-years traveling across Africa, Asia, Europe and Australia with the Ballet National de Cote d’Ivoire, Diamonde brings a wealth of experience to the stage offering audience members of all ages an amusing, yet educational, glimpse of African culture including stilt walking, performing high kicks and back walkovers! Donning masks and costumes of African descent, Kotchegna will present from a repertoire of 60 traditional African songs and dances.
