JCC Names Aubrey Harrington and Xanara Ruiz Co-Athletes of the Week

Freshman runner, Aubrey Harrington of the Jefferson Community College (JCC) women’s cross country team, and freshman outside hitter Xanara N. Ruiz, of the Jefferson volleyball team, were named JCC co-athletes of the week for the week ending October 30, 2016.  JCC's athlete of the week program is sponsored by Under Armour and Victory Promotions.  

Aubrey HarringtonAubrey HarringtonAubrey, a 2016 graduate of South Jefferson Central School, is majoring in Criminal Justice at Jefferson. Harrington’s accomplishments on the trail this past weekend include having a strong race, running in a combined Mid-State Athletic Conference (MSAC) and National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region III Division III championship race, and  beating the second place finisher by just over 3 minutes in the 5k course. She earned 2016 MSAC All-Conference team honors and All-Conference Female Runner of the Year.  In the Region III scoring, Aubrey had an outstanding showing finishing 4th overall and earning 2016 NJCAA Region III Division III Cross Country All-Region team honors.



Xanara RuizXanara RuizXanara, a 2016 graduate of Watertown High School is majoring in Childhood Education at Jefferson.  Ruiz’s accomplishments on the court this past week include finishing with 49 kills, 71 digs, and 43 service points.  Her poise and relentless playing kept the Cannoneers fighting until they were victorious in the regional finals.  She made several smart plays to spark the team as they finished the game with Fulton-Montgomery Community College in the 4th set to give the Lady Cannoneers the 2016 NJCAA Region III Division III Volleyball Championship title.
