Community Concert featuring JCC & WHS Wind Ensembles - March 1

JCC Wind Ensemble

A wide variety of music talent will be presented at a joint wind ensemble concert to be held at Jefferson Community College (JCC) on Wednesday, March 1, 2017 at 7:30 p.m. in Sturtz Theater. The JCC Wind Ensemble together with students of the Watertown High School (WHS) Wind Ensemble will perform a rewarding concert for enjoyment of the community. Admission is free and the public is welcome to attend.

The JCC Wind Ensemble, a credit-bearing humanities course open to students and community members, is under the direction of conductor Daniel L. Mosher, Carthage.

The WHS Wind Ensemble, comprised of students in grades 9-12, is under the direction of music teacher Andrea Wischerath, Adams.

According to Mr. Mosher, “March is Music in Our Schools Month and this concert gives students an excellent opportunity to see how the music and interpersonal skills they develop in a school setting can continue to expand and connect to the outside community of musicians following their high school experience.”

“All of our JCC music ensembles are excellent examples of SUNY applied learning courses,” says Lisa Scrivani-Tidd, JCC Professor of Music. “I can’t think of a better way for students to apply learning than to ask them to perform what they have learned in class for an audience. A community concert that pulls the community together like this concert does provides a fabulous way to apply learning to everyday life in society.  And it also enriches the community with beautiful music.”

Music for the concert will include a variety of genres. The ensembles will combine together to perform the final two selections of the program.
