Immigration Documentaries to be Presented on April 20

The social science department at Jefferson Community College (JCC) will show two documentaries, Immigrants for Sale: Detaining the Dream and Pursuing the Dream: A DACAmentary, on Thursday, April 20, 2017 at 7:00 p.m. in Room 5-101, Gregor Building.

Immigrants for Sale is produced by Brave New Films and examines immigration detention, a high profit industry in the United States. The documentary sheds light on U.S. Congress participation, buy-in and industry revenue expectations.

Pursuing the Dream: A DACAmentary, produced by Solidarity Strategies, tells the story behind the program known as Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA). Program recipients talk about the personal impacts by DACA, concerns for their future and offer advice on how to move forward.

Discussion about immigration and detention of illegal people in camps to immediately follow the documentary showings. The event is free admission and the public is welcome to attend.
