Dr. McCoy Named President Emerita of Jefferson Community College

The Jefferson Community College Board of Trustees named College President, Carole A. McCoy, President Emerita of Jefferson Community College at the June 7, 2017 Board Meeting. Dr. McCoy is retiring on June 30, 2017 after ten years of dedicated service to the College.

Dr. McCoy was named the fifth President of Jefferson Community College on February 1, 2017 and is the first female President of the College. Dr. McCoy fostered continued growth and development of Jefferson Community College as a learning institution, to the benefit of its students and the community. This success is largely attributable to the dedicated commitment, strategic vision and inspiring leadership of Dr. McCoy. She has supported student success initiatives and advanced the College’s Facilities Master Plan to realization of the Jefferson Higher Education Center, the College’s first residence hall, Collaborative Learning Center; Health and Wellness Center; and Gregor Building.

“The Board of Trustees are delighted to pay tribute to Dr. Carole McCoy with the President Emerita honor and all that it stands for in the world of academia,” said Terry N. Fralick, chair of the Board. “Carole’s leadership and her accomplishments are something we will refer to and this community's students will benefit from for decades to come. She has left her mark on this campus and community and is most worthy of the title, President Emerita.”

The College community and the North Country community-at-large are indebted to President McCoy for her contributions to education as well as her extensive service to many community organizations and events. In a short ten years, Dr. McCoy has committed herself to this community and making it a better place for the people that live here.

The Board of Trustees of Jefferson Community College, on behalf of the College and College community, express their deepest appreciation to Carole McCoy for her service and leadership in guiding Jefferson Community College through tremendous growth and maintaining its high standing in the academic world.
