Accepting Applications for NY Troops to Energy Jobs Natural Gas Boot Camp

Jefferson Community College (JCC) will hold N.Y. Troops to Energy Jobs Natural Gas Boot Camp for soldiers exiting the military and eligible unemployed veterans September 11 through October 20, 2017. Training is free! Classes run Monday through Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The deadline to apply is August 31, 2017.

N.Y. Troops to Energy Jobs Natural Gas Boot Camp is a six-week workforce ready training program that supports a soldier’s transition to begin their journey to civilian life and work as well as eligible unemployed veterans. Northeast utilities will need hundreds of natural gas workers over the next few years to build infrastructure to meet the needs of customers. At the same time, hundreds of thousands of military veterans with skills compliant with energy utility needs will be seeking civilian work.

Two cohorts, totaling 25 veterans, have already completed the N.Y. Troops to Energy Jobs Natural Gas Boot Camp at Jefferson!

Training includes a refresher in basic math skills and energy math instruction, safety and principles of natural gas, hand and power tools, excavation/backfilling, locating gas structures, piping, print reading, and customer focus

The Center for Energy Workforce Development (CEWD) and partners Jefferson Community College, Con Edison, National Grid, and Fort Drum Soldier for Life Transition Assistance Program sponsor N.Y. Troops to Energy Jobs Natural Gas Boot Camp.
