2017 Spirit of Jefferson Award - Chaos Patrol

(l-r) Allen J. Speno, Gabrielle M. Thompson, College President Carole A. McCoy, and Deanna L. Lothrop.

Jefferson Community College (JCC) Chaos Patrol is the recipient of the 2017 Spirit of Jefferson Award. Retired President Carole A. McCoy established the Spirit of Jefferson Award in 2011 to recognize a campus team that demonstrates cooperative effort and achieves exemplary results.

Chaos Patrol greets new students with a warm welcome and offers assistance with their move into East Hall. Campus Orientation and Registration Educators (C.O.R.E.) student leaders and residence life staff developed Chaos Patrol in 2014 when the College’s residence hall opened. Today, Chaos Patrol encompasses faculty, staff, and administrators. As a result, Chaos Patrol cultivates stronger relationships between faculty and students, a bond between families and the College, and cross department collaboration. Requiring a great deal of organization and dedication, Chaos Patrol is only successful due to the participation of multi departments and offices located across campus and the dedicated time of volunteers to ensure move-in day is a memorable event for each and every student.

Past recipients of the Spirit of Jefferson Award are JCC Women’s Organization (2011), Science Division (2012) for their Super Science Saturday event, Library Learning Center (2013), JCC’s Relay for Life team (2014), JCC EverGREEN Committee (2015) and JCC’s North Country Community Cup Team (2016).
