Humanities Department to Present Interfaith Dialogue on October 26

Jefferson Community College (JCC) Humanities Department will present Violence in Our Sacred Texts: an interfaith dialogue on Thursday, October 26 at 6:30 p.m. in Room 6-002, Jules Center. The forum is part two of a local church initiative spearheaded by the Emmanuel Episcopal Church with a guiding theme of how to respond to violence and use non-violent communication to de-escalate potential harmful situations. The public is welcome to attend.

The forum held at JCC includes devout panelists and representatives of religious groups including Hindu, Muslim, Jew, Christian, and Sikh. Panelists will speak to the topic: how to respond to violence following instruction of sacred holy books. Reverend Jerome Wichelns, of Emmanuel Episcopal Church, will moderate. Students and a JCC alum will pose questions to the panel. A public question and answer session will follow.

Information about local training available to learn how to communicate using non-violent language will be available at the forum.

Politics and political topics are not part of the forum. For more information, call Jefferson Community College Humanities Department at 315-786-2414.

Sponsored by the JCC Humanities Department.
