Calling Area Musicians to Join JCC Music Ensembles

Area musicians are invited to share their musical talents with the community. The Jefferson Community College (JCC) Orchestra/Wind and Jazz Rock Ensembles are now forming. Rehearsals, held in Sturtz Theater on JCC’s campus, begin January 24.

Musicians of all ages and levels of experience are welcome to join. There is no audition for these programs, although a selection process may be necessary to achieve balance in some areas. In previous years, the groups have been comprised of high school students, college students, and active and retired music teachers, members of the 10th Mountain Division Band and other community members.

Under the baton of conductor Daniel Mosher, the Community Orchestra and Wind Ensemble will meet for rehearsals on Wednesday evenings, January 25 through May 2. Orchestra rehearsals are held from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. and wind rehearsals are held from 7:45 p.m. to 9:15 p.m. Musicians are invited to join one or both groups.

Under the baton of conductor Steven Lester, the Jazz Rock Ensemble will meet for rehearsals on Tuesday evenings beginning January 24 through May 1 from 7:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

The JCC jazz rock ensemble and the orchestra and wind ensemble are credit-bearing humanities courses open to anyone. Community members can register for either ensemble at a cost of $40 by calling the JCC Continuing Education Division at 786-2233. Individuals over the age of 59 may join either ensemble for free by calling the JCC Advising, Career and Counseling Center at 786-2271 and requesting a course audit.
