JCC “Public Outdoor Accessibility Refresher” Workshop ASLA Approved—Earn CEU Locally

The Continuing Education Division at Jefferson Community College (JCC) will offer a Public Outdoor Accessibility Refresher—Updated Standards and Guidelines workshop on Monday, May 16 from 9:00 a.m. to noon in the Extended Learning Center on campus.

The workshop is approved for continuing education units (CEUs) by the Landscape Architecture Continuing Education System of the American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA). Not only can landscape architects earn CEUs by taking this workshop, but all American Institute of Architects (AIA) licensed architects and licensed professional engineers are also eligible to earn CEUs locally through this ASLA-approved workshop. Additionally, the workshop is of interest to business and school administrators, government officials, and others who have an interest in addressing outdoor accessibility needs for their public facilities.

Course topics include recent changes in the Americans with Disabilities Act outdoor accessibility regulations and recommended design and construction methodologies for outdoor recreational facilities including playgrounds, trails, boating, and golfing facilities. Attendees will take a field tour of selected outdoor accessibility design and construction examples within and near JCC’s campus.

The cost to register is $75 for ASLA members seeking CEUs; $85 for non ASLA members seeking CEUs; and $50 for attendees not seeking CEUs. Registration deadline is Monday, May 9, 2011.

To register (PDF) or for more information, call the JCC Continuing Education Division at 315-786-2233.
