Chocolate is Always Loyal

Haley Hudgens

You’re best with the sunrise,
the way he was.
I admire your chameleon-like
life you don’t discriminate,
you protect
almonds, peanuts, gummy bears.
You are as dreamy as the rainbow
white, dark, milky
I have loved you
as long as my memory.
You never disappoint me,
you don’t forget to call.

When the bastard bedded
my sister,
I turned to you melted
in my mouth
where his tongue once lived.
Sometimes, I find you hiding
in a box
where I now
hide my heart,
in pieces.
