I’m Not Really Here

Kenyon Wells

“I’m not really here
But thanks for stopping by”
A cheery, metaphysical epitaph
Neatly etched on a new stone
Below a name that matches no other
Among the solemn grave markers
Of this old hallowed ground.
A propitious monument
Set out by intent rather than chance
To be slightly but purposefully askew,
Like a head turned to one side
By which to better perceive
The intangibles of the world.
