Veda B. Howell Named JCC Athlete of the Week

Sophomore setter, Veda B. Howell, of the Jefferson Community College (JCC) volleyball team was named JCC athlete of the week for the week ending September 15, 2024.
Veda, a 2023 graduate of Junction City High School, Illinois is majoring in Business at Jefferson. Howell is our second-year co-captain and had a dominating setter performance at Onondaga Community College and Monroe Community College POD this past week with three matches. She led the Cannoneers to victory over OCC (3-1), Monroe CC (3-1) and a loss to Finger lakes CC (0-3). She has helped her team to a 4-1 road record. Veda’s stellar performance led the team with 44 assists, 32 digs, 4 kills, and 7 service aces. Veda performs at a 110% on and off the court, always there for her teammates. She has the determination to win! Veda is a quarterback of the team and feeds the ball to all her hitters to score points and loves to serve tough!

Jefferson Community College criminal justice student, Martin P. Daniels, Parish, received a $500 scholarship from the New York State Sheriffs' Association, presented by Jefferson County Sheriff Peter R. Barnett. The merit-based award is bestowed to a student enrolled full-time at a community college who is majoring in criminal justice, police science or equivalent and expresses an intent to pursue a career in the criminal justice field.
