Register for Class

Are you ready to create your class schedule? You’re in the right place! All students register using the same online system (SOAR) but it works a little differently depending on what type of student you are.

New and returning students 

If you are new to Jefferson or it has been more than 5 years since taking a class with us, please follow the steps on the how to apply page.

Once you have been accepted and completed placement testing (if needed) you are ready to register. The New Student Advising office will give you a password and tell you how to complete a pre-registration survey.

Once you have your password, you can schedule your advising and registration appointment online or by calling Enrollment Services at (315) 786-2437. To schedule your appointment online, log in to the myJCC student portal using your Jefferson ID and password. Then, navigate to the C4S (Connect for Success) section on the left-hand side of the page. Click on the options icon located next to Starfish at the top of the page, and select the My Success Network tab. In the search bar, type "New Student Advising," and click "Schedule an Appointment." This will bring up the calendar where you can schedule your appointment.

Students are encouraged to apply for Financial Aid, even if they plan on taking only one or two courses or think they may not qualify. Our financial assistance options are numerous and may surprise you. Jefferson offers more than 50 Academic Programs, and you can get a preview of available classes online.  If you’re undecided on a major, no worries, JCC’s Career Services can help! Assistance with course selection and registration is available. Call Enrollment Services at (315) 786-2437. Appointments by phone/email are available as well!

Current Students

Here are some easy steps to make sure your schedule and degree completion is on track.

1. Meet with your advisor! This is the single most important you can do to help guide your path at Jefferson.
2. See our academic calendar to find out when registration opens.
3. Preview the class schedule to get a general idea of available classes.
4. Review your midterm grades
   1. Go to myJCC and login
   2. Click myJCC in the top left corner
   3. Click SOAR
   4. Click the Student tab
   5. Click Student Records
   6. Click Midterm Grades
5. Schedule an appointment with your advisor. If you don’t know who your advisor is:
   1. Go to myJCC and login
   2. Click myJCC in the top left corner
   3. Click SOAR
   4. Click the Student tab
   5. Click Student Records
   6. Click View Student Information/Academic Advisor
6. Prepare for your appointment  - arrive with a general idea of the courses you need
7. Request registration PIN from your advisor. This PIN is required for you to register for fall and spring semester classes! You do not need a PIN to register for winter or summer sessions.
8. Register online.
   1. Goto myJCC and log-in
   2. Click myJCC in the top left corner
   3. Click SOAR
   4. Click the Student tab
   5. Click Registration
   6. Click Add (Register) or Drop Classes

Taking a Class or Two at JCC

Take a class or two at Jefferson Community College to earn transferable credit and acquire a new skill, or for personal enrichment. Non-degree seeking students (a.k.a. non-matriculated students) may register for 4-week, 8-week, or 15-week classes. Declaring a major and seeking a degree (matriculated students) may always be done at a later date. Cost per credit hour at JCC is one of the lowest compared to many other colleges!

Get started

1. Complete and return the Course Registration form and Payment Authorization form

Include all requested information, including the 5- digit CRN of desired courses (search our
class schedule).

Completion of our placement exam or prior completion of a college-level English or math course is required to take an English or math course at Jefferson.

If applicable, please provide evidence that you have met the prerequisite requirements (unofficial transcript).
