Kids' College to Begin July 8

Jefferson Community College Kids’ College is expanding to Lewis County! This summer, Kids’ College will be held at the new Lewis County Education Center in Lowville in addition to JCC’s campus in Watertown. Kids’ College, in July and August, is an exciting way to keep youth learning during the summer and provide a fun opportunity to explore STEaM (science, technology, engineering, art, math) concepts through hands-on projects, learn the basics of video game programming and design, create virtual worlds and much more.

Kids’ College dates/times/locations vary. Early registration is recommended! Call the JCC Workforce Development and Business Division at (315) 786-2233 to register by phone or visit www.sunyjefferson.edu/kids to access a printable registration form. Mail registration form and payment to JCC Workforce Development and Business Division, 1220 Coffeen Street, Watertown, NY 13601. Workshops with insufficient enrollment will be cancelled five (5) business days before the workshop start date.

Students will learn to bring their characters and drawings to life! We will start with writing a story, turning it into a script, designing a storyboard, creating characters and then, make them move. Students don’t need to be a great artist to be a great animator! They will learn the process, and go through the steps to develop their stories and art into animated shorts. Awesome animations tell a story and students can choose to create a simple or elaborate one. Students will work in teams and individually be using simple techniques to bring their creativity to action with animations.
