Take Back the Night on Oct. 22

Published: October 13, 2018

On Monday, October 22, 2018, the Jefferson Community College (JCC) Health and Wellness Center will host its annual Take Back the Night (TBTN) event at 7:00 p.m. in the Robert R. and Jean S. Sturtz Theater. Admission is free and the public is welcome to attend.

An internationally observed event to raise awareness of violence against women, TBTN at JCC will feature a march around campus, panel of guest speakers, resource fair, and special music provided by singer/guitarist Travis Rocco. A string of student decorated t-shirts bearing personal messages that speak to violence against women, known as the Clothesline Project, will be on display.

Guest speakers include New York State Assemblywoman Addie Jenne; Jefferson County Sheriff Colleen M. O’Neill; Katy E. Troester-Trate, JCC Interim Dean of Students; Ty A. Stone, JCC President; and representatives of the Watertown Veterans Center and Fort Drum Sexual Harassment/Assault Response and Prevention Program.

For more information about TBTN, contact the JCC Health and Wellness Center at 315-786-2376.
