2023-2024 Military Friendly School Designation
Published: March 08, 2023
Jefferson Community College (JCC) has once again been named a Military Friendly® School by Viqtory, publisher of G.I. Jobs®, Military Spouse and Military Friendly®. First designated a Military Friendly® School in 2012, JCC is currently one of 250 schools selected for the “gold” award status for its leading practices, outcomes, and effective programs.
Institutions earning the Military Friendly® School designation were evaluated using both public data sources and responses from a proprietary survey. Over 1,800 schools participated in the 2023-2024 survey with 530 schools earning award level designations in gold, silver, and bronze. The 2023 Military Friendly® Schools list will be published in the May 2023 issue of of G.I. Jobs magazines and can be found online.
"Over a decade has passed since Jefferson was first acknowledged by Military Times for its unwavering commitment to serving the military community, and we remain deeply grateful for the opportunity to support those who have served our nation in their educational pursuits,” says Dr. Daniel J. Dupee, II, Administrator-in-Charge. “Our staff, many of whom are veterans or military spouses, possess an unparalleled understanding of the unique needs of the military community. Their unwavering commitment to fostering a sense of camaraderie among our veteran, active duty and military-family students is a point of pride for Jefferson and a testament to our enduring dedication to providing exceptional support to those who have served."
Methodology, criteria, and weightings were determined by Viqtory with input from the Military Friendly® Advisory Council of independent leaders in the higher education and military recruitment community. Final ratings were determined by combining the institution survey response scores with the assessment of the institution’s ability to meet thresholds for student retention, graduation, job placement, loan repayment, persistence (degree advancement or transfer) and loan default rates for all students and, specifically, for student veterans.
