Spaghetti Bridge
It is our pleasure to invite your students to participate in the 16th JCC High School Spaghetti Bridge Building Competition to be held Thursday, November 21st from 9:30am - 1:15pm here at SUNY Jefferson. We look forward to your participation this year!
It is our goal to provide opportunities to increase awareness and encourage high school students to consider entering the field of engineering. This friendly competition of local high school teams will allow your students the opportunity to come to the JCC campus, meet our current engineering students, and challenge themselves.
Trophies and cash prizes are awarded for the top three placing teams: $100 for First, $50 for Second, and $25 for Third. We have invited high schools from Jefferson, Lewis, St. Lawrence, and Oswego County to participate. We also invite each school to send one middle school team to be mentored and compete in its own category. We will award $25 to the top Middle School team.
If you participated in the past, there are very minor changes this year. The registration deadline is November 8th and all registration will be handled online. Coaches should contact me by email for information and registration instructions. Teams are limited to the first 40 that register. We have many tools to help you and your students prepare for this competition. If you would like any training, are a first time coach and/or new to the competition, or have questions, please contact me by phone (786-2388) or email (gmiller1@sunyjefferson.edu).
We feel that this will be a wonderful event with your collaboration. You play a very significant role in encouraging students to participate in new challenges; and we sincerely hope that your school plans to send some teams to join us! We look forward to working with you and seeing you in November!
