Spring Commencement

Virtual Commencement Ceremony:  Friday, May 21, 2021 at 7:00 p.m. on
DiplomaPalooza!: Saturday, May 22, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.  in person, on campus.


If you plan to attend DiplomaPalooza!, you must Register today and plan to arrive no later than 12:30 p.m.  Specific instructions will be emailed to you once you have registered.

We are looking forward to celebrating your graduation from Jefferson Community College in the following ways:

The virtual ceremony includes remarks by your student speaker Logan Laisdell, a keynote address by distinguished Jefferson alum Nathaniel Chapin ’03 and a reading of name of all May 2021 and August 2021 candidates for graduation  and December 2020 graduates.  The link will be available on the College homepage at www.  Please note: for your name to be read aloud during the virtual ceremony, you must have completed the Application for Degree or Certificate no later than May 10, 2021.

DiplomaPalooza! gives you the opportunity to walk across an outdoor “stage”, receive your diploma from President Stone, and have photos taken. Your family can drive along beside you and share in your celebration.  Jefferson faculty and staff are excited to cheer you along as you navigate the road to success!

FAQs for Graduates and Guests

You may bring the number of guests that can be seated safely in ONE vehicle.
NOTE:  Should bad weather force the event inside, you will be permitted 4 guests only.

No. Family members must remain in vehicles, however we have planned ample space for photos to be taken from vehicles. The College will also have a photographer taking a photo with President Stone, and a picture of each individual graduate.

Yes. There is still time to register, but get signed up soon!

Yes, as long as you have completed an application to graduate (in May or August) by Monday, May 10 and it has been approved by the College Registrar, your name will be announced during the virtual ceremony. If you complete the application to graduate AFTER May 10 and before May 18, your name will be listed in the press release and on the College’s website, but your name will NOT be read aloud in the online ceremony.  Note:  The names of December 2020 graduates will be read along with names of candidates for May 2021 and August 2021 graduation.

All students, faculty and staff will wear face coverings and be socially distant from one another. Family members do not have to wear a mask but MUST stay in the vehicle, even when taking photos. High touch surfaces will be sanitized and those handling diplomas will wear gloves.  Additional details are available.

No. Neither COVID  tests nor proof of vaccination is required, however grads should not participate if not feeling well or had direct exposure to COVID-19 in the 10 days leading up to DiplomaPalooza!.

No. But registration for DiplomaPalooza! is required (by May 10, 2021) for contact tracing purposes. Graduates should NOT ATTEND if not feeling well!

A professional photo will be taken of you by yourself with your diploma cover and for that photo only you may remove your mask. Your face covering must remain on at all other times including during your photo with President Stone.

Yes! Programs will be handed out at DiplomaPalooza! Additionally, a program will be mailed to each graduate after the event.

No, the cost is included in your student life fee. You can pick up your regalia even if you choose not to participate in DiplomaPalooza!

Caps, gowns and tassels are available now for pick up at the JCC Bookstore on campus.  The Bookstore is open Monday-Thursday from 9:00am - 3:00pm. If you need to make alternate arrangements, please call 315-786-2260.

You do not need to pre-order your cap and gown. Your regalia includes the cap, gown, and tassel specific to your program of study. If you are a member of Phi Theta Kappa (PTK), you will receive a PTK stole. If you are a participant in the Honor's Program, you will received special cords. If you are a veteran or active duty military, you will receive red/white/blue cords. 

Our virtual ceremony will include many of the same components as a traditional ceremony such as remarks by the student speaker and keynote speaker. Additionally, each candidate for graduation (who has applied to graduate by May 10) will have their name read aloud in the virtual ceremony.  The virtual ceremony will be available on the College's YouTube channel to watch anytime after the May 21 premiere.

No. The Bookstore will not be open at DiplomaPalooza!, however we will have extra regalia on hand if graduates are missing anything.  If you are looking for some JCC swag, you can always order online.

Diplomas for those completing degree requirements in May are mailed in mid-June to the home address you indicated on your application for graduation. August graduates will receive diplomas in September. December graduates have already received their diploma.

No, there is not a rehearsal for graduates. Just arrive at your scheduled time, be dressed in your regalia (and face covering!) and be ready to have fun and celebrate!
