The healthcare industry continues to experience rapid growth, with medical assisting emerging as one of the fastest-growing career paths.

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment for medical assistants is projected to grow 16% through 2031, significantly faster than the average for all occupations. This demand is driven by an aging population, expanded access to healthcare services, and the increasing reliance on electronic health records (EHR) systems. Clinical medical assistants play a vital role in supporting physicians and healthcare teams by performing both administrative and clinical tasks. Their responsibilities often include patient interaction, record management, and assisting with medical procedures. As healthcare facilities continue to adopt digital systems, professionals trained in EHR technology are also in high demand. Certifications such as the Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) and Certified Electronic Health Records Specialist (CEHRS) validate the skills needed to thrive in this evolving field and offer a competitive edge in the job market

Program Description

The Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) + Certified Electronic Health Records Specialist (CEHRS) course bundle is designed to prepare students for a dynamic career in healthcare. This comprehensive online training program provides the knowledge and hands-on skills needed to work as a clinical medical assistant while also teaching the fundamentals of electronic health records systems. Students will learn how to support medical providers through clinical and administrative duties, including scheduling, patient intake, record assessment, administering injections, measuring vital signs, and maintaining medical equipment. The curriculum also covers medical law, ethics, HIPAA regulations, and includes a medical terminology course focused on human anatomy and body systems. Students with prior knowledge may opt to test out of the medical terminology component by scoring 80% or higher.

The second part of the program focuses on EHR systems, exploring how they benefit both staff and patients and how to implement them effectively. The course includes CPR certification and an opportunity to participate in an unpaid clinical experience. Upon completion, students will be eligible to sit for the CCMA and CEHRS certification exams offered by the National Healthcareer Association (NHA), with exam vouchers included. Prospective students should verify state-specific requirements, particularly those planning to work in Washington or South Carolina, as additional documentation or restrictions may apply. Certification exams are available online to candidates located within the United States.
