Freshman guard, Abigail Bombard of the Jefferson Community College (JCC) women’s basketball team, was named JCC athlete of the week for the week ending December 14, 2025.

Bombard, a 2025 graduate of Immaculate Heart Central, is majoring in Childhood Education at Jefferson.  In Jefferson’s lone game of the week, freshman point guard Abby Bombard delivered a standout performance in a statement victory over #5-ranked National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Onondaga Community College (OCC). Bombard recorded an impressive double-double, finishing with 20 points and 10 rebounds, while also contributing 5 assists and 3 steals in the Cannoneers’ 68–57 Mid-State Athletic Conference rivalry win.

Abby was at her best when the game mattered most, controlling the tempo throughout the fourth quarter. With Jefferson clinging to a 53–51 lead, Bombard orchestrated the offense and sparked a decisive run as the Cannoneers stretched the advantage to 11 points in the final five minutes, sealing the win with some big free throws.

On the season, Bombard is averaging 13.9 points per game and 3.4 assists per game, serving as a steady leader for a Jefferson squad that enters winter break with a 6–2 record. The Cannoneers’ résumé includes signature wins over #12 Kingsborough Community College, #12 Herkimer County  Community College, and #5 OCC, with Abby’s play at the point guard position playing a pivotal role in each.
