Babekir Elshiekh Named Athlete of the Week

Freshman Guard/Forward, Babekir Elshiekh, of the Jefferson Community College (JCC) men’s basketball team was named JCC athlete of the week for the week ending November 12, 2023.  JCC's athlete of the week program is sponsored by Victory Promotions. 

Babekir, a 2023 graduate of Rachel Carson High School for Coastal Studies, Brooklyn, NY, is majoring in Business Administration at Jefferson. In his first collegiate game, Elshiekh scored the game winning 3-pointer as he led the Cannoneers to a road victory at Region III power Genesee Community College by a score of 76-75. In this game he would shoot 7-11 from the field and shoot 50% from the 3-point arc. He would also corral some key rebounds in the waning minutes of the game as the Cannoneers secured a big road win. Babekir followed this game up with another solid performance on the road against Corning Community College this past Saturday. The Cannoneers look forward to continued production from him this year.
