Sophomore guard, Delaney A. Wiley, of the Jefferson Community College (JCC) women’s basketball team was named JCC athlete of the week for the week ending February 2, 2025.

Delaney, a 2023 graduate of Thousand Islands Central School, is majoring in Business Administration at Jefferson. This past week, Delaney led the Lady Cannoneers to a 3-0 week with wins over SUNY Broome, #12 Herkimer and Mohawk Valley.  Delaney scored 13 points over Broome and had a huge weekend with a career high 31 points over #12 Herkimer and followed that effort up with 27 points against Mohawk Valley.  She shot 59% (26-44) from the field, 52% (10-19) from 3pt, and 70% FT.  Delaney is Jefferson’s best defender and always accepts the challenge to guard the opponent’s best guard or post player.  In 3 games, this week she held the opponents’ leading scorers to an average of 12 points under their current average.
