Freshman Guard, Marcus Castine of the Jefferson Community College (JCC) men’s basketball team, was named JCC athlete of the week for the week ending November 23, 2025.

Castine, a 2025 graduate of Sackets Harbor Central School, is majoring in Physical Education at Jefferson.  Marcus has been a tremendous bright spot for the Cannoneers this season, emerging as one of the team’s most consistent and reliable performers. He is currently averaging 16 points per game, ranking as the Cannoneers’ second-leading scorer, and establishing himself as a dependable go-to option on the offensive end.

Marcus delivered back-to-back standout performances this week. He put up an 18-point effort in an 88–78 win over Clinton Community College, followed by a win over Cayuga Community College, and then, he sparked a dominant second-half surge by scoring 17 of his 22 points after halftime helping secure the Cannoneers’ second straight victory.

Marcus also ranks among the team’s statistical leaders, shooting an impressive 79% from the free-throw line and a team-best 55% from the field. His efficiency, work ethic, and consistency have made him a pleasure to coach, and the staff looks forward to his continued success throughout the season.
