Criminal Justice Student Receives Scholarship from New York State Sheriffs’ Association

Jefferson Community College criminal justice student, Olivia Wood, Lorraine, received a $500 scholarship from the New York State Sheriffs’ Association, presented by Jefferson County Sheriff Peter R. Barnett. The merit-based award is bestowed to a student enrolled full-time at a community college who is majoring in criminal justice, police science or equivalent and expresses an intent to pursue a career in the criminal justice field.
Wood anticipates graduating with her Associate in Science (A.S.) degree in criminal justice from Jefferson in May and attending the police academy in June. During her time at Jefferson, Wood earned President’s List and Dean’s List honors, completed an internship with Jefferson County Probation and the New York State Police. Additionally, she was a member of the Jefferson women’s soccer team. Her career goal is to become a NYS trooper.
