JCC to Launch Free Semiconductor Bootcamp October 20, 2026 - Enroll Today!

Jefferson Community College (JCC) will launch a free semiconductor bootcamp this fall, providing individuals with an opportunity to develop foundational skills for careers in the growing semiconductor and advanced manufacturing industries. The bootcamp begins Tuesday, October 20, 2026, and will be held Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. in Jefferson’s newly renovated Dulles Building (Building 3). Bootcamp is open to anyone interested in developing technical skills for today’s workforce.

Participants will gain hands-on experience and earn two nationally recognized Snap-on® industry certifications, along with three transferable college credits. The training is designed to introduce participants to technical skills used in advanced manufacturing and semiconductor-related careers.

Dupee, II, President. “The semiconductor industry is bringing new opportunities to New York, and this bootcamp gives members of our community a chance to begin building the technical skills and credentials that can lead to rewarding careers. We are proud to expand Jefferson’s role in preparing the North Country workforce for what’s ahead.”

“This bootcamp is designed to give participants a hands-on introduction to the skills and technologies used in advanced manufacturing and the semiconductor industry,” said David Snow, Director of Community Services, Mechatronics Program. “Participants will work with industry-relevant equipment, earn two nationally recognized Snap-on® certifications and receive three transferable college credits. Whether someone is exploring a new career or looking to build on their existing skills, this is an opportunity to gain practical experience and see where these skills can take them.”

The bootcamp is part of Jefferson’s expanding workforce-development efforts in response to the growth of the semiconductor and advanced manufacturing industries in New York State. In April, Jefferson was awarded $750,000 from Micron Technology to support the development of academic programming and workforce training opportunities in the semiconductor industry.

Jefferson is also developing new mechatronics academic programming, with newly renovated laboratories in the Dulles Building featuring equipment and learning environments focused on automation, electronics, hydraulics and mechanical systems.

According to New York State data, semiconductor processing technicians earn an average salary of approximately $68,564 per year.
