New Beginnings: Spring Semester Kicks Off At JCC

Jefferson Community College (JCC) welcomed students back to campus for the Spring 2025 semester on January 22, 2025, marking a time of fresh beginnings, opportunity, and progress. Classes were initially scheduled to start on January 21 but were canceled due to inclement weather.

This spring, JCC is proud to host a diverse student body, including 33 international students and 490 adult learners (ages 25 and up). Additionally, 66 students are dual-matriculated (enrolled in more than one academic program), and 65 students are pursuing microcredentials. As the semester begins, JCC is not only celebrating its diverse student body but also creating an engaging campus experience for students. 

To kick off the semester, students enjoyed free food and fun activities including a coffee bar, pastries, walking tacos, team trivia, a Mario Kart tournament, and more. Faculty and staff were on hand throughout the day to assist students while they navigated their way on campus.

For non-degree seeking individuals looking to jumpstart a career in healthcare, JCC’s allied health pre-certification programs offer quick training with flexible evening schedules and seats are available for the following programs starting in March 2025: 

• Pharmacy Technician Training: Complete the program in two months. Classes meet Mondays and Wednesdays from 6:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. in Lowville, starting March 3.
  
  
• Dental Assistant Training: Complete the program in two months. Classes meet Mondays and Wednesdays from 6:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. on JCC’s campus, starting March 3.
  
  
• Medical Billing and Coding: Complete the program in three months. Classes meet Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. on JCC’s campus, starting March 4.

Funding is available for eligible individuals through The WorkPlace, and MyCAA funding is accepted for military spouses. Act now to secure your spot! Programs with insufficient enrollment will be canceled, so don’t wait — register today by calling JCC Workforce Solutions at (315) 786-2233. 

Looking ahead, JCC is actively preparing for the future by shaping its next 5-year Strategic Plan, which will guide the college’s growth and innovation through 2030. The plan is scheduled to roll out in Fall 2025.
