JCC to Host Future Women in STEAM Summer Academy - Apply by June 15, 2026

Jefferson Community College (JCC) will host Future Women in STEAM Summer Academy, a free interactive experience designed to empower young women entering grades 8–10 to explore pathways in science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics (STEAM) on July 27-30, 2026. STEAM Summer Academy, a four-day program - Monday through Thursday from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., includes breakfast and T-shirt. To apply, submit an application and high school counselor recommendation by June 15, 2026. The program is limited to 20 students.
“We are proud to provide opportunities that encourage young women to explore and engage with STEAM fields in meaningful and creative ways,” said Dr. Daniel J. Dupee, II, President. “The Future Women in STEAM Summer Academy is designed to inspire curiosity, build confidence, and help students envision themselves as the next generation of innovators, problem-solvers, and leaders.”
STEAM Summer Academy features hands-on learning experiences, interactive activities, and career exploration opportunities designed to inspire the next generation of innovators and leaders in STEAM-related fields. Students selected for the academy will be notified by July 1, 2026.

We are excited to provide students with an opportunity to discover the many possibilities available in STEAM fields.”
The Future Women in STEAM Summer Academy is free to attend.

The Center for Community Studies at Jefferson Community College (JCC) completed a first-of-its-kind study on North Country residents' health and healthcare experiences, with special emphasis on women's health and the impacts of adverse childhood experiences. The Center partnered with faculty of Gender and Women's Studies at SUNY Plattsburgh, to design and complete the study of adults in Jefferson, St. Lawrence, Franklin, Essex, and Clinton counties.
