JCC to Hold SUNY Reconnect Information Session on July 22, 2026

Published: June 22, 2026

Jefferson Community College (JCC) will host a SUNY Reconnect Information Session on Tuesday, July 22, 2026, at 5:30 p.m., highlighting tuition-free degree opportunities for eligible adults ages 25–55, including the College's new Health Sciences Associate in Science (A.S.) degree program. The session, held in person and virtually, is designed for adults interested in returning to college and exploring careers in healthcare, nursing, education, technology, and engineering.

SUNY Reconnect is a New York State initiative that provides eligible adults ages 25–55 who do not already hold a college degree with the opportunity to earn an associate degree in select high-demand fields tuition-free. In addition to tuition, the program helps cover fees, books, and supplies after other forms of financial aid are applied. Eligible students may enroll full-time or part-time and benefit from flexible scheduling options designed for working adults.

During the information session, attendees will learn about SUNY Reconnect eligibility requirements, available financial aid, academic programs, transfer opportunities, and student support services. Representatives from Enrollment Services and Financial Aid will be available to answer questions and assist prospective students with next steps.

Jefferson’s Health Sciences degree program is particularly well suited for students who are interested in healthcare careers but may not yet have selected a specific profession. Through coursework and advising, students can explore multiple healthcare career options while building credentials that transfer to four-year colleges and universities. The Health Sciences A.S. degree provides students with a strong academic foundation in biology, chemistry, mathematics, and liberal arts while preparing them to transfer into bachelor’s degree programs in nursing and other health-related fields. The four-semester degree pathway is designed for completion in two academic years.

"Many adults want to advance their careers or enter a new field but are concerned about the cost of college," said Daniel J. Dupee, II, President. “SUNY Reconnect removes that barrier and provides a pathway to in-demand careers while allowing students to remain in the North Country and continue meeting work and family responsibilities."
