Kali L. Waltz named Jefferson Community College Athlete of the Week

Kali WaltzSophomore setter, Kali L. Waltz of the Jefferson Community College (JCC) volleyball team, was named JCC athlete of the week for the week ending September 7, 2025.

Waltz, a 2024 graduate of Otselic Valley Central School, is majoring in Business Administration at Jefferson. Kali’s accomplishments on the court this past week included showing exemplified leadership, adaptability, and competitive excellence in the Cannoneers’ season-opening weekend. A former Outside Hitter, Kali stepped into the setter role this season, recognizing the team’s need and committing herself to mastering a new offensive system. Her hard work paid off, helping guide the team to a 1-1 record.

Over the weekend, Kali recorded 24 assists, 16 digs, and 9 services aces-proving her impact on both sides of the ball. As one of the team’s captains, her leadership was especially evident in the match against SUNY Niagara. With the game hanging in the balance, Kali delivered seven straight points, including 3 aces, to give the Lady Cannoneers a commanding lead and close out the final set 25-9.

Her poise under pressure and mental toughness was a driving force behind the team’s success. Kali’s selflessness, versatility, and clutch performance make her a standout candidate for Athlete of the Week.
