Get Career-Ready with Jefferson’s Allied Health Training Programs

Prepare for a career in the high-demand allied health field through Jefferson Community College’s (JCC) precertification training programs. In-person training is available for individuals aspiring to become a clinical medical assistant, dental assistant, medical biller and coder, pharmacy technician, and phlebotomy technician. These programs – and additional allied health options – are also available online. 

Students who complete these programs may be eligible for an optional externship with a local healthcare organization to gain valuable hands-on experience. Training begins in September and is held on campus, at Fort Drum, and at the Lewis County JCC Education Center in Lowville.

Upon successful completion, participants may choose to sit for a nationally recognized certification exam in their respective field.

Funding is available for eligible programs through:

• My Career Advancement Account (MyCAA) – for military spouses
• Army Credentialing Assistance (CA) Program
• Caring Gene® Career Pathways Training Program – for everyone  
• Grants through The WorkPlace – for qualifying individuals
• Military spouses requesting MyCAA funding must submit their Education and Training Plan at least four weeks before their program start date.

Through a partnership between Jefferson, Condensed Curriculum, and Ed2Go, additional allied health training programs are available online including EKG Technician, Dialysis Technician, Veterinary Assistant, and Personal Care Assistant. Students can begin online training at any time through rolling enrollment.

Precertification Allied Health Training

Medical Billing and Coding 
Sit for the American Health Information Management Associate national exam upon successful completion of this 80-hour program. Students who complete this program in-person have the option to participate in an externship with a local organization to gain valuable hands-on experience. Tuition does not include the certification exam fee.

Phlebotomy Technician
