JCC Volume XXXV of Black River Review Unveiled

The unveiling of Volume XXXV (35) of the Jefferson Community College Black River Review (BRR), a journal of poetry, prose, and fine arts took place on May 8, 2025. The event was a celebration of the diverse writing and art talents of Jefferson students, faculty, staff, and alumni.
Throughout the celebration, contributors were acknowledged for their exceptional contributions in both creative writing and artwork. The BRR cover art, a mixed media titled “Punk,” is the work of Jefferson student, Jade Ramirez, Watertown.
Recipients of the Outstanding Artwork Contribution Award are Ramirez, for her cover art and a drawing titled “Say Cheese,” and Lillian Kilionski of Syracuse, for her photographs titled “She’s Just Hungry” and “Iguana with a Tick Problem.”
Recipients of the Outstanding Creative Writing Contribution Award are Alesa Bernat of Lowville, for her poems titled “My Anger is a Triangle” and “Shadow Loss,” and Dallas Parker of Chaumont, for her fiction piece titled “The Trap of His Mind.”
Submission deadline for Volume XXXVI (36) is February 13, 2026.
