JCC Appoints Executive Director of Human Resources - Margaret LaVancha

Margaret L. LaVancha Appointed Executive Director of Human Resources

 Jefferson Community College (JCC) is pleased to announce the appointment of Margaret L. LaVancha (on right) to the position of Executive Director of Human Resources. She fills the role of retired Associate Vice President of Human Resources, Kerry A. Young, whose farewell was May 2024. LaVancha began her appointment at Jefferson on June 24, 2024. 

LaVancha, of Carthage, comes to Jefferson with more than 20 years of experience in the human resources field. Prior to joining the higher education sector, LaVancha served as the director of human resources at The Children’s Home of Jefferson County for two years and previously, served 25 years at Stebbins Engineering and Manufacturing Company where she advanced through the ranks from staff accountant to payroll manager, then director of human resources, and then chief resource officer/director of human resources. 

With over two decades of dedicated service in human resources, LaVancha has played an active role in the North Country Human Resources Association for 22 years, including a nine-year tenure on the Board of Directors, where she served as vice president for six years. Her commitment extends beyond professional realms, as she also fulfills the role of treasurer at her church. 

LaVancha holds an associate degree from Jefferson and a Bachelor of Science in Business Management from Ithaca College.
