College Accepting Nominations for Athletic Hall of Fame and Distinguished Alumni

Jefferson Community College (JCC) is seeking nominations for the 2019 Distinguished Alumni Awards and Athletic Hall of Fame induction. These honors are bestowed annually to outstanding Jefferson graduates for their contribution to Jefferson athletics or have distinguished themselves through professional achievement, service to their community. Honorees will be recognized at a special ceremony to be held on September 27, 2019. Nominations are accepted from all sources. The deadline to nominate a candidate for Hall of Fame induction is June 15, 2019 and the deadline to nominate a candidate for Distinguished Alumni consideration is August 1, 2019.

The Athletic Hall Of Fame recognizes individuals or teams who have exhibited outstanding athletic success or have had a positive impact on Jefferson Athletics through participation, support or interest in the athletic program. Successful candidates should exhibit continued support for, and involvement in, athletics and bring distinction and honor as an athlete, team, coach, administrator or special friend to the College. Unveiled in August 2009, the Athletic Hall of Fame pays tribute to 35 inductees and the 1992 Women’s Basketball team.

Award categories for distinguished alumni include professional achievement, rising star and community service.

The Rising Star Award recognizes a graduate of the past 15 years who is on the rise in his/her career field. The successful candidate should exhibit the potential for significant professional achievement and leadership ability, promise for continued success and set an inspirational example for future alumni.

The Professional Achievement Award recognizes a graduate who demonstrates sustained (ten years or more) success in professional life and leadership within his/her profession. The successful candidate should exhibit professional growth, leadership abilities, and have achieved recognition for success.

The Jeffersonian Award recognizes a graduate who demonstrates a dedication to service on a local, state, national or international level. The successful candidate should have a history of volunteerism, civic involvement, humanitarian undertakings, or service to Jefferson Community College.

The Community Service Award recognizes a member of the campus community, either through employment or significant service on college leadership or advisory boards, who meets all requirements for the Jeffersonian Award, but is not a graduate of Jefferson.
