Prepare To Become A Notary Public Virtual Workshop Begins Oct. 22

Jefferson Community College (JCC) will offer Prepare To Become A Notary Public, a non-credit workshop, to be held virtually via Zoom beginning October 22, 2020 from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Deadline to register is October 15, 2020. Anyone may take the workshop.
Prepare To Become A Notary Public provides a comprehensive understanding of the authority, duties and responsibilities of the notary public office. Attendees will learn how to avoid conflicts of interest, maintain professional ethics, charge proper fees, handle special situations and minimize legal liability as well as when to defer to an attorney. At the conclusion of the workshop, students will take an 80 question practice exam to prepare for the New York State notary exam.

Daniels, Parish, received a $500 scholarship from the New York State Sheriffs' Association, presented by Jefferson County Sheriff Peter R. Barnett. The merit-based award is bestowed to a student enrolled full-time at a community college who is majoring in criminal justice, police science or equivalent and expresses an intent to pursue a career in the criminal justice field.
