Published: July 15, 2025
Adults ages 25–55 who have not yet completed a college degree may be eligible to attend Jefferson Community College (JCC) at no cost through New York State’s SUNY Reconnect program. To help prospective students learn more and get started, Jefferson will host an information session on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, at 4:30 p.m. in the Commons, Jules Center (Building 6). The session will be offered in-person and online.
SUNY Reconnect, part of Governor Kathy Hochul’s New York State Opportunity Promise initiative, is designed to support adult learners returning to college to pursue degrees in high-demanding fields. SUNY Reconnect offers additional financial assistance to help cover the cost of tuition, fees, and books without requiring student loans.
During JCC’s information session, attendees will learn about eligibility requirements including completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), explore career pathways in technology, education, engineering, and nursing, and connect with representatives from student support and accommodative services. They can also apply for admission (free), take a campus tour, and receive assistance with submitting their FAFSA form.
Eligible SUNY Reconnect programs at Jefferson include Childhood Education, Childhood Education Birth–Grade 2, Childhood Education Birth–Grade 6, Nursing, Computer Information Technology, Computer Information Systems, Computer Science, and Engineering Science.
