Army Credentialing Assistance (CA) Program

Jefferson Community College supports Active Duty Soldiers through the Army Credentialing Assistance (CA) Program, which provides funding for industry‑recognized credentials that support career advancement and workforce readiness. Program details, eligibility, and funding information are available through the official Army CA website.

CA funding may be used for approved Jefferson Community College certification programs aligned with military and civilian workforce needs.

The Army Credentialing Assistance program will provide up to $2,000 per Army fiscal year to assist a soldier in attaining industry recognized credentials. The CA program can fund training, books, mandatory fees, exams, and recertifications, capped at one credential per FY. A Soldier may use both TA and CA; however, the combined use by any Soldier will not exceed the fiscal year TA limit ($4,500). Soldiers must submit CA requests at least 45 days from the start date and no more than 90 days from the submission date. End date on CA request must be at least 31 days from their ETS.

Army CA Policy Update (Effective 19 March 2026)

The Army has implemented updated Credentialing Assistance policies in accordance with AR 621‑5.

Key changes include:

  • Approval Required: All CA requests require supervisor or commander representative approval in ArmyIgnitED, regardless of rank.
  • Recoupment Suspension: Soldiers who incur two recoupments between Tuition Assistance (TA) and CA in the same fiscal year will be suspended from requesting TA and CA for 12 months. Appeals may be submitted through ArmyIgnitED.
  • Commissioned Officer Eligibility: Commissioned Officers are not eligible for CA. Officers who submitted a credential goal before 19 March 2026 may complete that credential if funding was requested prior to the change.
  • ArmyIgnitED Updates: These changes are reflected in ArmyIgnitED Virtual Benefits Training (VBT) and system functionality.
  • CA Support: For Credentialing Assistance guidance, Soldiers only should contact the CA Virtual Counseling Cell (VCC).
