The Center for Community Studies (Center) at Jefferson Community College has completed its 26th Annual North Country Survey of the Community. Additionally, for the first time in their more than quarter-century of public opinion research in Northern New York, the Center completed a statewide sample including all 62 counties, using their longitudinal annual omnibus survey instrument, providing a much deeper understanding and perspective surrounding North Country results.

Jefferson Community College (JCC) continues to be recognized in the Military Times' Best for Vets Colleges rankings. First earning the distinction in 2017, Jefferson is one of nine public colleges recognized in New York State and one of 357 schools nationwide in 2025. This marks an increase from 304 institutions in 2024, the largest field in the program's history.

Jefferson Community College (JCC) is accepting submissions from alumni, Jefferson students (full and part-time), faculty and staff for the 2026 edition of the Black River Review. The Black River Review is a journal of poetry, prose and fine arts. The deadline for Volume XXXVI is February 13, 2026. Cash awards for outstanding work will be awarded.

Jefferson Community College (JCC) and The CDL Schools will offer the next 5-week CDL Class A training program on January 26, 2026, at the Lewis County JCC Education Center in Lowville. Classes will be held Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Chemistry students at Jefferson Community College (JCC) recently gained advanced, hands-on research experience through a collaborative project with Clarkson University. As part of their Honors Program chemistry research, students extracted pectin from fruit in Jefferson's laboratories under the guidance of Instructor Rabab Aoun, Ph.D., to explore how this natural material can enhance aerogels used in applications such as wound dressings, food gels, and agriculture.
