Jefferson Community College (JCC) Board of Trustees proposed the adoption of an official Statement on Social Justice at their monthly meeting on Wednesday, October 7, 2020. In Resolution 155-20, the Board unanimously passed a statement detailing the College’s commitment to promote equality and inclusion in all College practices. Board Chair Nathan P. Hunter stated, “As a Board, we felt it was important to reaffirm the work of our administration, faculty and staff, to embed diversity, equity and inclusion. In the classroom, across student life and within the campus culture, the administration strives to promote these values.”

Jefferson Community College will hold a series of virtual open house sessions virtually in October, November and December. Each open house will be from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. via Zoom. Prospective students and family members are welcome to attend.

Jefferson Community College (JCC) will offer its non-credit Prepare To Be A Notary Public workshop virtually via Zoom beginning October 22, 2020 from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Deadline to register is October 15, 2020. Anyone may take the workshop.

Jefferson Community College (JCC) received confirmation today, October 2, 2020, that one of our students has tested positive for COVID-19. The student is registered for on-campus classes and therefore was tested as part of the College’s surveillance testing plan. The college is assisting Jefferson County Department of Public Health in their contact tracing efforts to identify any possible exposure risks to other students, faculty or staff. The student does not live in the on-campus residence hall.

Last chance to register for fall semester! Anyone having second thoughts about not starting Jefferson Community College (JCC) in August at the beginning of fall semester should register now for 8-week, late session, courses. Late session classes will be held remotely beginning October 26, 2020 and will wrap up by December 16, 2020.

Jefferson Community College (JCC) has been awarded a Truth Initiative grant totaling more than $17,000 spread over two years under the Truth Initiative Tobacco/Vape-Free College Program. The Truth Initiative grant, administered by the JCC Diverse Task Force, expands leadership opportunities for students on the College's campus including two paid student positions - Truth College Leaders.

Jefferson Community College (JCC) students residing in the residence hall on campus were required to take a COVID-19 test at move-in, during the week of August 24th. JCC is pleased to report all tests came back with negative results. Collaborating with Watertown Urgent Care, the College was able to see all 104 students living in the residence hall tested, assuring results would be back by the first day of classes, which began on August 31. College president Ty A. Stone states, "Starting the semester off with this good news of 100% negative results for our residence hall students is definitely a win for our campus community but we caution students to remain vigilant and continue to exhibit responsible behavior. The health and safety of our students, faculty and staff is our primary focus at this time."
